A Chinese company is betting that the trend of increasingly larger wind turbines is far from reaching its end.

SANY, a multinational heavy equipment manufacturing company, has announced a revolutionary wind energy testing center for 35 megawatt (MW) turbines. Interesting technique reported.

In one LinkedIn messageSANY said it can recreate 20 years of weather conditions in just one year through “high-intensity accelerated fatigue testing” that uses features such as six 100-ton hydraulic cylinders.

That theoretically allows rigorous testing of turbine components to withstand typhoon-level winds, complex weather patterns and a number of other potential challenges.

As for the gigantic size of 35 MW, said SANY’s Europe director Paulo Fernando Soares told Recharge he doesn’t expect a turbine of that size “in the near future, but these types of investments are for the long term.”

Either way, the potential to test turbines of that size is a sign of China’s explosive competition to build ever-bigger turbines. China’s wind technological revolution is at an all-time high recently 26MW offshore turbine from Dongfang Electric Company. That surpassed another competitor, Mingyang, and its 20MW offshore turbine.

Watch Now: How the NBA Makes Layups in the Durability Game

SANY itself has made headlines with a turbine blade that is the longest onshore blade of its kind in the world. These turbines don’t just attract attention because of their sizewhich at the hub can be more than 60 stories high and has a diameter of 14 football fields.

Their energy generation and pollution reduction are enormous. claims Dongfang With a wind speed of 16 km per hour, the 26 MW turbine can power 55,000 Chinese households. In theory, that would reduce annual carbon pollution by 80,000 tons and reduce coal consumption by 30,000 tons.

Larger turbines offer greater efficiency as the huge blades get more bang for the buck and benefit from greater wind speeds.

Will America ever get all its energy from renewable sources?

China’s commitment to wind energy innovation is encouraging news in the clean energy sector and helps move away from dirty energy. While China is currently the the world’s biggest polluterMajor investments in high-powered wind energy could close the gap and push the country toward its goal carbon neutrality by 2060.

The country’s efforts are drawing the attention of observers around the world. Philip Totaro, CEO of IntelStor, a renewable energy analytics company, told Recharge his company predicted that China would try to “take a global technological lead” in wind energy by surpassing its European competitors in research, development and production.

To that end, SANY recently launched an 8MW turbine for the European market. Soares wrote on LinkedIn that the company “seriously wants to be a major global turbine player.”

Considering the astonishing capabilities of the 35MW test bench, we can say he’s not bluffing.
